A fight between two wolves

An elder Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy. “It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil—he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good—he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you—and inside every other person, too.” The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The elder simply replied, “The one you feed.”

Cherokee Legend

Which wolf within us is winning? Which one is getting more food. Observe and understand our anger and even your evil thoughts. How do we feed the good within and the good around us? Yes the glass could be half full. But isn’t the glass beautiful and the water clear. We are grateful for the drink to quench our thirst and to never take it for granted. Find more spaces and people who nurture our “good wolves”. The evil within us will not go away, but we  can starve it so it withers. Nourish the good within with the bounty that is all around us.
